Derrick Duverger — Music producer and Sound Engineer

LA-based music producer and sound engineer Derrick Duverger (a.k.a. Polarisphere) loves experimenting with sound and genres as well as collaborating with a variety of handpicked artists from around the world.

When growing up in Brooklyn, NY, Derrick didn’t realize he had stepped into the career of a lifetime when he first started reciting hip hop lyrics from memory. His uncle, who was a DJ, and his Haitian parents, gave him the best of music education directly from experiencing the music itself — with a mixture of Haitian sounds, 1970’s disco, and rap just as 1980’s hip hop emerged into the forefront of local music.

With variety as his backdrop, he developed a curiosity about sound which led Derrick to start learning about digital audio workstations and eventually to experimenting with creating his own sound.

From those earliest musical experiences, one thing Derrick knew for sure was that he loved manipulating sound to create something new, and, ultimately, making his own unique style of music come to life.

At first self-taught, Derrick has continued to develop his skills with music production and across audio technologies. He currently holds a certificate in Audio Engineering from The Institute of Audio Research and is a graduate of the LA Film School.

Today, Derrick creates from his home studio in Los Angeles, California, and enjoys working on projects that inspire creativity and cross genres. His own music has an electronic focus yet combines live instrumentation with a variety of musical tastes to create a fresh sound.

My Approach to Projects

I have a deep love for music and film which, combined with my background in both industries, contributes to the creative energy I bring to every project. I’m passionate about preserving the creative intent and technical accuracy of audio content throughout the post process.

My advanced knowledge of Pro Tools as well as production of audio content for various platforms, including live events and digital media, create the foundation for all of the work I do. I have significant background with audio engineering, sound design, recording, mixing, and reproduction.
